GEARHEAD ARCHERY PRO STAFFER KYLE HEINZ
The outdoors have always intrigued me. The forest, lakes, streams and open country have always been where I feel at home. I’m 22 years old and live with my amazing family in Thornton, Colorado, the perfect place for an outdoorsman such as myself. With fishing and hunting opportunities within miles of my house, there is no place I’d rather be.
When I’m not working at Cabela’s as an archery technician and G5/Gold Tip training specialist, I’m at the range flinging arrows or hiking The Rockies scouting for my next honey hole. Not a day goes by where I don’t get the chance to pull back my bow. I’ve been an outdoorsman my whole life but just recently got serious into big game archery hunting. There is something about being able to stalk an animal with better senses than yourself, and get close enough to make a shot with a bow, that I love so much.
I started shooting traditional archery with my father at a very young age at our local archery range. Just three years ago, I started studying the complexity of the compound bow, being infatuated with the way an arrow cuts through the air. Most of my shooting for the first two years consisted of target archery. I participate in every archery event that I can, as I find a passion for the challenge and camaraderie whether at a tournament or in the field.
Looking ahead into 2017 I have multiple national and local archery tournaments planned as well an Elk hunt, hiking deep into the Rockies. Western Nebraska will hopefully provide a huge gobbler this year. I’ll be chasing speed goats in southern Wyoming and hunting pigs down in south Texas. I can’t wait to take on all the challenges this year brings me.
